That's not unusual.  I see an open PR, assigned to ports, from 1998
(http://www.FreeBSD.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?9163).  That's unusual.

If you mentioned the names of the ports (devel/p5-String-Approx for
example) in the subject/synopsis of your PR, and sent in new ports as shar
archives rather than as uuencoded tarballs, they would be a little easier
to review.  A gotcha is that if you're using the form at
http://www.freebsd.org/send-pr.html the tabs will get munged when you
paste a shar archive into it.
