When I try and run newfs on sd1 it gives me two messages: 1) not a character-special device 2) `1' partition is unavailable Now correct me if I am wrong but this drive does not need to be a character device anyway, instead it should be a block device; right? What is the basic and simplest procedure for putting a new hard drive into service? Matthew ZS matt@xanadu2.net
