Needless to say, you are expected to do two things before committing
stuff like this in the future:
1. Check with the ${MAINTAINER} first, something I'd assumed you'd already
done and Andrzej subsequently clarified was not the case. Bad
committer, no taco for you.
2. Actually check in code which builds. Don't just check in something
broken and then wave your hands about how you won't be able to test
it for another few days in case somebody else wants to fix it.
Compliance with the above two rules isn't just a nice idea, it's The
Law and let's please not even waste time going over your
justifications for this action since it's clear to the jury that you
were in clear violation of the rules and there really is no adequate
defense except perhaps "sorry, I won't ever do this again."
