Sorry, my phrasing was a little unclear; one important word was missing: The DVI _standard_ does not support encryption. The are devices that do, in fact, handle encrypted signals on their DVI ports, but that's not covered by the standard at all. (Unlike the HDMI standard which does support encryption explicitly.)
