It has a boot preference of NVMe > USB > SD. So, you can copy the FreeBSD installer images to a USB, and go through the traditional installation to set up your SSD. Upon reboot you will be in the new system. Eventually we will gain the ability to write a new u-boot to the SPI flash, but there is still some work ahead for this. Since jrtc27's patches just landed, this coming Thursday's 14.0 snapshot should include everything needed, likely including the aforementioned superpage fix (D31460).
