Patch bypassing midi initialisation

I already ran into this myself but until now only did a rather primitive
workaround too embarrassing for public consumption. When taking another loo=
k I
came up with the attached patch skipping the midi initialisation. As the mi=
di
part didn't seem to be functional on FreeBSD anyway this shouldn't cause too
much trouble.
