hello, i have a newly installed server running FreeBSD 3.0-current.
the problem is on its 'finger' feature, i can hardly get a result
when trying to finger a linux box system (like system running 
slakware), but it seems to work fine fingering servers running
UNIX System V and FreeBSD.
