Hey I have just resently installed XFree86-4.2. I have the damned Asus A7A 266 mother board, which has been causing me a lot of grieve, but whith help from Scott I got it to compile and start. The problem is that I cant configure X to use my VideoCard (MATROX G400) proberly. I figure this is because I cant load the mga kernel module, I just dont know why? I get this error wheb using kldload: link_elf: symbol s_lock_init undefined kldload: can't load mga: Exec format error From my XFree86.0.log: drmOpenDevice: minor is 0 drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0 drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (Unknown error: 999() This gets repeted a couple of times and then I get: (II) MGA(0): [drm] drmOpen failed (EE) MGA(0): [drm] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI. I also get complaints about link_elf in my dmesg: Preloaded elf module "agp.ko" at 0xc03b609c. Preloaded elf module "mga.ko" at 0xc03b6138. link_elf: symbol s_lock_init undefined And in the bottom: Mounting root from ufs:/dev/ad0s1a link_elf: symbol s_lock_init undefined I hope there is someone out there that can help, cause me and my friends are blank. Please cc me btw, because I for the last 24 houres havnt got any mail from any of the list I am subscribed to. Thanks in advance, Morten.
