Huh? You must be running a different fetchmail than I am, because mine does
do status *if you are not running it in daemon mode*.  Check to make sure
mail.yahoo.com is the correct address from which to download your email,
that may not have a pop server running. Also, if you are using X you might
look into fetchmailconf to make sure you have it set up right.
