In our country , all of the people are getting their drugs ( ... ) supplied by the government free of payments ( sometimes with very little payments ) through the pharmacies and hospitals . We could not find a square barcode reader sold by drug suppliers in our town because all of the pharmacies already had bought their units . When a keyboard emulator barcode reader is used , there is no need to use any other programs or devices . The processor of the barcode readers are decoding the picture and sending its characters to the computer as if they are given from the keyboard . The other kind of barcode readers ( i.e. , scanners of the barcode picture ) attached to a computer require their associated software if they are not keyboard emulators and their ports are not able to generate keyboard input from data sent by the barcode reader . Such barcode scanners are used if the scanned barcodes are not included into the ( let's say ) commodity scanners used in the shops .
