Hi! I wanted to setup multi IP address on a ethernet interface, and the man ifconfig said: "The following parameters may be set with ifconfig: add ............................ alias ............................ If the address is on the same subnet as the first network address for this interface, a netmask of 0xffffffff has to be specified. " Why do I can't set the netmask as the normal 255.255.255.0 (for C class) and needed to set as 0xffffffff(255.255.255.255)?
