The reason the manual says this is that some old BIOS's couldn't understand more than a 504 MB disk initially, so anything having to do with bootup had to be within that space; after that, the OS (which was more intelligent) could read thewhole disk. With such a new machine, however, you should have no problems. I have a Compaq Presario bought around August '96; it originally had a Pentium 120 in it (now a Cyrix), and I had FreeBSD installed on the last 100 megs of my 1.2 gig drive. 100 meg partition... ug.... Anyway, you should have no problems putting it after '95; that's the upshot of this whole speech. > Thanks in advance > Carson Saunders > casaunde@vt.edu Hope it helps! *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* | FreeBSD; the way computers were meant to be | * "The only reason I'm burning my candle at both ends, is * | that I haven't figured out how to light the middle yet."| * fullermd@futuresouth.com :-} MAtthew Fuller * | http://keystone.westminster.edu/~fullermd | *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
