Sure -- I've got it working on three laptops personally.  Primary gotchas
are getting the pccard slots supported.  The PAO distribution
(from http://www.jp.freebsd.org/PAO) is a good addition for
laptops.

Toshibas are sometimes wierd birds so be prepared. 

The mailing list `freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org' is very handy for laptop
issues.
