I have had great success on 2-way SMP machines up until 4.5-RELEASE (3 MP machines with >= 4 months uptime, last downtime was for upgrade). I have had tremendous problems with the SMP kernel crashing for no apparent reason in 4.5-RELEASE. Just my two cents.
