Hi, Vladimir!
I don`t know, what a problem you have with FreeBSD 5.0, but when I set
up my AC 97 at FreeBSD 4.4, I read a lot of docs and discovered, that answer is
very simple - you just should recompile your kernel with such additional
strings:

options PNPBIOS
device  pcm

you can test new settings with command:

#dmesg | grep pcm

result must looks like:
pcm0 <SB 16 DSP 4.11> .... port .... irq ... at device .... on pci0
