I'm a vi user. If you really want that Windows look and feel, and you
are running X you might take a look at nedit in the ports tree. You'll
have to install Motif or Lestif, but it was designed to be a decent
editor for Mac and Windows users.

There should be a configuration option to wrap your messages to a
specific number of characters, use it.

You aren't going to get any argument from me there. ;-) Actually, if
you're going to spend much time in UNIX, you should at least have
basic proficiency with vi since it's always there and emacs may not
be.
