My kernel config file >includes the ATM support declaration: I can't answer your question, but I have advice for how people can avoid getting their systems into an unusable state. Prior to upgrading a system from one version to another, please download a boot floppy containg the GENERIC kernel for the newer version and boot it to see if it detects all your devices, like the previous (current) system does. I, myself, would probably go so far as to actually build a custom kernel (even if I had to seek out a friend with the newer version and build the kernel on his machine) and try it to ensure ALL my devices get detected/configured.
