Then the BIOS driver will help you detect the virus :). 

What's really nice about the BIOS stuff is that you don't have to figure out if
your card is supported on the computer of *unknown brand with three month
warranty just bought for an unbelieveable price*. Somethig like the i386 pareto
law of device drivers.

Yes the BIOS will die someday but not even Microsoft is considering that scheme
at the moment.
