I just installed XFree-4.2.0 from ports on G400 and it works just fine. Initially DRI didn't work, but after I installed drm-kmod-0.9.5_1 it works with no problems. I didn't do anything special --- just followed the instructions at http://gladstone.uoregon.edu/~eanholt/dri/ I also have Asus mb, but I don't remember what model. Dmesg has things like this in it: agp0: mem 0xe4000000- 0xe7ffffff at device 0.0 on pci0 I know this won't probably help you much, but at least you know that it works on a similar system.
