I must have got confused by gnu/dev vs dev/gnu when I grepped for them in LINT/.depend. maestro3 is not in LINT, but emu10k1 is. maestro3 is not even in /sys/conf/files; it is only in a module. emu10k1 is in both GENERIC and LINT.
