Did you started moused for the PS/2 mouse (moused_enable="YES" in your /etc/rc.conf)? It's not enabled by default, IIRC. About your Radeon card, I think it should work without issue with the xf86-video-ati driver (no need for the VESA one). Can you try it and post /var/log/messages and /var/log/Xorg.0.log after starting X.Org, please? -- Jean-Sébastien Pédron
