We use a lot of Quantum 9G drives here in our RAID systems, and the RAID controller takes about 2 hours to format one. As a matter of good practice, its probably a good idea to turn on a new drive in its working orientation, allow the temperature to stabilize, and then low-level format it. -- -- Karl Denninger (karl@MCS.Net)| MCSNet - Serving Chicagoland and Wisconsin http://www.mcs.net/ | T1's from $600 monthly to FULL DS-3 Service | NEW!
