Trouble is, the whole object of this excercise is to AVOID the need for local accounts, and qpopper still needs getpwnam() to work, which is why I switched from qpopper in the first darn place ;-) Thanks for the suggestion regarding pam-mysql, though... it's exactly what I'm looking for for an auth interface. I've set it up and tested it. Now I just need to find a pop3 daemon that: a) Performs well under pressure b) Does not require system users (I thought this was implied in my original post... then again... ;-) I suppose good 'ol Cyrus has a PAM interface. Anyone got a better idea for a fast/robust POP3 server that DOESN'T need real users?
