Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG Hi, I'm curious why FreeBSD doesn't have a unified name for, say, all ethernet cards, like it has for all SCSI devices (now anyway) or sound drivers. It seems to cause a lot of confusion that they don't all map to a common name (like eth0 etc).. Just curious, please don't make me get the asbestos suit :) --- Daniel O'Connor software and network engineer for Genesis Software - http://www.gsoft.com.au "The nice thing about standards is that there are so many of them to choose from." -- Andrew Tanenbaum To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
