Volker, Thanks for this report, makes me feel better to know I'm not going totally nutso. :) I looked at the difference between the two versions, and there is some code added to deal with DPMS issues that seems to be the offending bit. I have been running 4.23 with the patch at http://people.freebsd.org/~dougb/patch-driver_timers.c for a while now without seeing those same black flashes. If you could recommend that patch to the folks who are having problems, then ask them to let me know if that fixes it for them, I'll let Jamie know about this. Thanks!
