Kevin, sure, you can have that PR closed and request a GNATS hat to re-open this PR if you see this problem again. I haven't noticed you're running a hand crafted kernel. Can you provide kernel config? If plain GENERIC works but your modified kernel crashes, there must be something wrong in the kernel config. For the savecore issue: I'm wondering if your swap space on either swap device is too small?
