I think I had similar problem while installing 2.2.7R. I guess you have following directory structure on the media you install from : FreeBSD 2.2.7-RELEASE bin .. packages All (I'm sure it's empty! put all packages here) audio x11 .. Having istalled minimal complect I tried to install some audio packages like you do: /stand/sysinstall->configure->packages-> and always got "unable to fetch .." So, move all files from "packages/audio", "/x11", etc to "packages/All" directory. Well, I hope it will help. Esli chto pishite po-russki.
