Just in case you wanted to ask /my/ permission, you are certainly welcome to "fix" PORTREVISION wherever. You will not need to do it in my own ports, however. The gist of my objection is that I'd like to work on my ports -- but the silly rule forces me to chase /other people's/ ports, which might be affected. mat@ -- in his uniquely talking-down tone -- made clear, that, although he agrees with me, that the rule is stupid, it shall be obeyed until I fix the broken 3rd-party tools[1] or else... I'm more than happy to hear, that you volunteer to do it in my stead and I will not have to find out, what unspoken threat mat@ had in mind. Yes, I think it is a stupid thing to do, but there much silliness in this world -- so long as I don't have to take part, I can ignore it. > I think it's a shame that you work so hard to work at cross purposes with > other people in the project. The actual shame here is, a sorry "tradition", which -- as we all agree (!) -- should never have gotten started in the first place, is perpetuated. -mi [1] portupgrade, when invoked with "-r" (which you want to do nearly always anyway) will do the right thing. Maybe, it is not /that/ broken...
