I hope someone can shed some light on a weird SCSI message I'm getting. I've got a temporary Squid sever set up with about 20 clients plowing through it. It has a Segate ST3457N 4.5 gig drive in it with an Adaptec 2940UW controller. I'm running RH 7.0 with the 2.2.19-7.0.1 kernel. (I tried the grep AIC7XXX_C_VERSION drivers/scsi/aic7xxx.c command to determine whic version of aic7xx I'm runnning, but I don't have aic7xxx.c on my system - I guess I'm running whatever comes with the 2.2.19-7.0.1 rpm?) I'm getting some SCSI errors like this about three times a day: Jul 25 15:45:43 reliant kernel: SCSI disk error : host 0 channel 0 id 0 lun 0 return code = 28000002 Jul 25 15:45:43 reliant kernel: [valid=0] Info fld=0x0, Current sd08:05: sense key Illegal Request Jul 25 15:45:43 reliant kernel: Additional sense indicates Invalid field in cdb Jul 25 15:45:43 reliant kernel: scsidisk I/O error: dev 08:05, sector 3468496 Should I be freaking? Operation seems just fine, although on reboot I did get a "/usr contains a file system with errors, check forced." error after a clean shutdown this morning. Any commentary (and especially reassurance) would be gratefully received.
