Hi everyone, thank you so much to all of you who joined and participated in the Laptop and Desktop Workgroup call on 2025/06/11! It was great meeting you all and continuing to move things forward! Here's the link to the slides: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ukRyCrwHBv92CofKnrnrUg4N2uvdt5xf-UL_8TwzUCY/edit?usp=sharing Unfortunately, Jitsi produced a garbled recording file this time. I happened to run a parallel audio recording - however, this only really recorded the local presenter audio and all other audio was only partially picked up through the microphone. I managed to stitch together some reconstruction but do have to apologize for the intermittent bad audio quality. I owe an additional apology to you, Austin - your questions and inputs on the current issues surrounding the Nvidia driver were very relevant to the conversation and did not get up by the mic sufficiently to be reproduced by the backup. I gathered that you were describing screen issues due to the interaction with how the framebuffer is getting configured in FreeBSD vs Linux and I found https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=285803 that appears to be possibly related? If you care to add/share any further details/infos - whether to me directly or the mailing list, it would be appreciated. Here's the "reconstructed" recording: https://youtu.be/SAdsropG_4w We continue the use of our worksheet to keep track of our activities: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15btrze2sZrprSBd3Hb3YG27cZqG0AFjcvLlcTTifpIE/edit?usp=sharing I will write minutes in the next few days and link them on the wiki once they are done. Further information can be found on our wiki: https://wiki.freebsd.org/LaptopDesktopWorkingGroup I will follow up on the specific questions from the call in the next few days: - what is frame.work's strategy on CPU selection and availability? - who can help Austin troubleshoot the vt/drm-kmod issues he is facing? If you have any questions, let me know! See you next call! chris
