thx guys,
I got it to the point where I can get to the commands that I need.  I 
tried to do a fsck on the

/dev/da3s1e: drive and it came up with: not labeled as a BSD file system 
(unused)

I find it hard to believe that this drive is dead since I just bought 
it, any ideas that I can try to fix this?
