So, I read the installation online help guide.. but cannot find out what files I need to download from the FTP sites. I know how to get to the FTP sites.... but what do I download? I mean, if I install off two floppies, will the setup download them for me? I doubt it, but I have no way of knowing for sure as I cannot find any info about this in the installation guide. And.. installing from MS-DOS.. does that mean ye olde MS-DOS and not Windows 9x? [Hopefully, next time you will be able to use a mailer that wraps lines as it should according to standards. MS Outlook and Outlook Express are not such mailers and the lines they produce are a pain to read on most UNIX systmes.] You only need to download the two floppies kern.flp and mfsroot.flp from the /pub/FreeBSD/floppies directory of the ftp site of your choice. The install program will download the rest for you. This means of course that you will have to have network connection available during install. If you want to install from DOS, that means MS-DOS or Win95 in DOS mode. But normally you do not need to do this, just get the two floppy images, copy them to floppies as described in the installation guide and then boot from them and the install will work. > Thank you! Your welcome, but next time direct such questions to questions@freebsd.org as it is a more appropriate place for such questions.
