I don't know if FreeBSD is also affected. FWIW, I've been running FreeBSD for about a year on an 800-MHz Athlon system at home. It runs solidly, with no random crashes of any sort. The only problems I've had with this box have been when I boot Win98SE on it (it's set up for dual-booting); sometimes it will hang or reset while Windows is starting up (but FreeBSD always starts up just fine).
