After seeing all the mess here, I'll make a recomendation. Perhaps it's time to write a whole new tool that combines syslogd and newsyslog and some other functionality all in one place, and fixes all of the issues that have been put forth here. Since it's a new tool, it can start from a clean slate, and needs no compatability features. Both can be included for a suitable transition period, and eventually syslogd could die. -- Leo Bicknell - bicknell@ufp.org - CCIE 3440 PGP keys at http://www.ufp.org/~bicknell/ Read TMBG List - tmbg-list-request@tmbg.org, www.tmbg.org To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hackers" in the body of the message
