Interesting. If this is what we can expect from XFree servers when the DGA extension isn't supported (even in releases where DGA is supported by some servers), I can patch in an X error handler to trap this and just turn off direct video for all video modes. That'll get you going on XImages. I'll add it this evening or tomorrow, and mail you to see if that gets you full-up or not. Randall
