Additional data point: System: FreeBSD 10.0-CURRENT #0 r248938: Sun Mar 31 06:24:42 EDT 2013 amd64 Hardware: AMD Phenom, 4 cores @ 3 Ghz, 8mbytes RAM With the load (as reported by top) at around 6, Firefox 20 also takes ~12 seconds. On the other hand ... once I open a browser I work within it, until it's no longer needed (or it crashes :-( ). Opening a new window/tab in SeaMonkey is so fast I can barely see it happen. Robert Huff
