True...but that's why I qualified that with "for anything I've wanted...". I tend to be involved with different sorts of computers in different locations. Between that and lack of an accurate crystal ball, I have "portability" in my list of within-reason requirements :-). At any rate...I don't remember the original question, but from the subject line...easy ways to force a modem to hangup might be to turn it off or unplug the phone line from it (does that actually hangup?
