Have you got the latest version ?  Older versions didn't measure 
average bandwidth usage when talking to some ppp implementations, 
implementations that send PROTO_IP packets instead of PROTO_MP when 
there's only a single active link.

You can tell if you've got the wrong version by doing a ``show 
links''.  You'll see the average bandwidth is far less that the 
bandwidth of the only open link.

Incidently, ppp(8) itself now does this....
