The threat of Zen is breathing down their backs. Can you test the newer release from 2011-12-20 ? Reverting back needs PORTEPOCH bump which should be avoided. Snippet from the open-vm-tools mailing list. Rel Notes 8.8.1 ===================== Two new open-vm-tools releases are up. 8.8.1 is a maintenance release of the 8.8.x series, matching the Workstation 8.0.1 update recently released. It's available in the "stable-8.8.x" directory on the sourceforge.net page. Note that it's not the default download (that's still the 8.6.0 version, matching the vSphere 5.0 release). open-vm-tools 8.8.1 changes: * Updated code for compatibility with newer Linux kernel releases and with newer NetworkManager releases. 2011.11.20 is a development snapshot of open-vm-tools. You can get the new release from SourceForge (note that it is not the default download) or by updating your git mirrors. You can also get more detailed change logs by cloning the git tree. open-vm-tools 2011.11.20 changes: * Updates for new Linux kernel releases. * Better Unity and DnD compatibility with newer Linux distros. * Other minor fixes and cleanups. Rel Notes from 2011-12-20: ========================== * Updates for new Linux kernel releases, including some fixes for Fedora's re-versioned 3.x kernels. * VMCI sockets has some changes for a new socket type, targeted at replacing the "backdoor" communication used by the tools services. * HGFS has better session support. * Miscelaneous bug fixes and small enhancements in other parts of the code.
