Yeah. Well. Aren't they all? A copyright is an inalienable right granted upon creation to the creator (creatress? :). Been awhile and IANAL but I believe you can only transfer or grant exploit and distribution rights. E.g. to the company one works for. Another aspect is that the prototypical FreeBSD daemon also is copyrighted. Yet distribution has been granted on certain terms. There are also trademark laws, one can trademark an image.
