I configed the GENERIC kernel, and compiled and installed it. When I reboot, I get the following error message and the machine locks. Pleas be aware that this was hand written then typed because /var/log/messages never gets updated so I may have some errors. Anyway, the following error repeats numerous times for each device (3 devices) then fails to boot. I removed the FAILSAFE option from the config file and the resultant kernel works just fine. error: st0(ncr0:1:0) COMMAND FAILED (9ff) @f04de00c. ncr0: aborting job ... ncr0:0 ERROR (90:0) (0-a7-7) (0/3) @ (script a0:43000060). ncr0: script cmd=878b0000 ncr0: regdump da 00 00 03 47 00 02 1d 31 00 00 a7 80 00 08 02. ncr0: restart (fatal error) Mark
