It couldn't talk to my Linksys WAP, so I had to modify the driver and rebuild the kernel. Now it works great on the network, but I can't start KDE. The behavior I see is that it gets to "initializing Window Manager" and it hangs. I get the same behavior if I start it as root instead of a regular user. The only change I made in the GENERIC config was the ident string. Is this a known or obvious problem? Does anyone know of a fix for it? I'd really like to be able to use X on my laptop.... ;-) Regards, Phil "Reality, like truth and beauty, is in the eye of the beholder." - John L.
