To: freebsd-ports@freebsd.org Date: Mon, 18 Aug 1997 18:56:34 -0400 (EDT) Cc: rdkeys@csemail.cropsci.ncsu.edu () X-Mailer: ELM [version 2.4 PL24] Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-ports@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk I have some things that I would like to move to a 2.1.7.1 box from ports made on 3.0 or 2.2 boxes. If I take the entire ports tree from a 3.0 or a 2.2.2 box, will it transfer and make correctly? I would expect that it should, if things are compiled straight from source. Any pointers appreciated. There are about 2 dozen things from a newer ports tree that I would like to move to the old box. If the ports tree were tarred and then the distribution tarballs moved along with it, then the tree should sit and remake correctly from the old machine, for the ports I need. Anyone ever tried this? Are any additional log files needed to keep the ports registrations in sync? Bob Keys rdkeys@csemail.cropsci.ncsu.edu
