You can try:
1. Setting sysctl compat.linux.osrelease to "2.6.16".
2. Adding to /etc/make.conf:
-----
OVERRIDE_LINUX_BASE_PORT=f10
OVERRIDE_LINUX_NONBASE_PORTS=f10
-----

That should work for (most, many) linux applications. However
not all new linuxulator bits can be merged from 9.x/8.x to 7.x.
That's why the default for 7.x (and 6.x as well) is not going
to be changed.
