In https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=154502 I proposed to compile xdm without XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 at all (configure --disable-xdm-auth). There is no real benefit to XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 and it sometimes breaks things (most annoyingly, it may break logging in). Debian did the same thing years ago. -- Jilles Tjoelker
