Hi, I write data to some CF cards now and then. After a few iterations, dd starts hanging instead of writing to the device. I am running FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE and I use Compact Flash cards in a eMagic USB 2.0 6-in-1 card reader. The flash reader is identified by usbdevs as: port 3 addr 2: high speed, power 500 mA, config 1, Flash Reader(0x0760), vendor 0x05e3(0x05e3), rev 1.25 Some console messages: Jan 16 18:12:44 lappy kernel: umass0: vendor 0x05e3 Flash Reader, rev 2.00/1.25, addr 2 Jan 16 18:12:44 lappy kernel: umass0: SCSI over Bulk-Only; quirks = 0x0000 Jan 16 18:12:44 lappy kernel: umass0:2:0:-1: Attached to scbus2 Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da0 at umass-sim0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0 Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da0: Removable Direc t Access SCSI-0 device Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da0: 40.000MB/s transfers Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da0: 123MB (251904 512 byte sectors: 64H 32S/T 123 C) Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da1 at umass-sim0 bus 0 target 0 lun 1 Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da1: Removable Direc t Access SCSI-0 device Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da1: 40.000MB/s transfers Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da1: Attempt to query device size failed: NOT READ Y, Medium not present Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da2 at umass-sim0 bus 0 target 0 lun 2 Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da2: Removable Direc t Access SCSI-0 device Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da2: 40.000MB/s transfers Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da2: Attempt to query device size failed: NOT READ Y, Medium not present Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da3 at umass-sim0 bus 0 target 0 lun 3 Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da3: Removable Direc t Access SCSI-0 device Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da3: 40.000MB/s transfers Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: da3: Attempt to query device size failed: NOT READ Y, Medium not present Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: (da0:umass-sim0:0:0:0): Synchronize cache failed, status == 0x10, scsi status == 0x0 Jan 16 18:12:45 lappy kernel: umass0: Invalid CSW: tag 55 should be 56 Anyone else run into this sort of thing? If writing to a CF card hangs once, it seems I need a reboot to recover (rebooting hangs too, in the end). Sometimes I can write one card, sometimes more.
