XFS is like a 100,000 lines of code according to some recent postings by SGI engineers on USENET, it would be a pretty big effort even for SGI to do a port. If they could make money on it, Veritas' would be a possibility. I only say this because they are somewhat OS vendor neutral. They support UnixWare, Solaris and others. It would be a heavy porting job though, 4.4BSD vfs/vnode interfaces and semantics are pretty different. I think it's more realistic to look at what can be done with John Heidemann's complexity conquering stackable vnode stuff and go from there. Regards, Mike Hancock
