I can't help with your pcm problem but the problem with usb-devices showing upis propably because you have usbd_enable="YES" in your /etc/rc.conf. It will automatically detect your usb-devives and load the usb* mobules which is needed. Hope this could "solve" the weird behavior :) -- Kind regards Jonas Hauge
