If you have a large distance you need to have line of sight. With a directional antenna and line of site you can be miles apart. The ISA card is LANEscape WL2420 and it is 2Mbps. they have a PMCIA card and access points also but with FreeBSD who needs an access point? :) I got mine from CyberLan but they no longer sell them.
