Hi,

I'll hazard a guess for you. It looks like your libxml version is
too small to allow gnome2 to compile. The version required
by the build has to be >2.4.20.. 

Whereas from your ls /var/db/pkg you only has 2.4.12. I had
a similar problem a few months back when I was trying to install
the ogle port.

In the end I had to download the source for the latest libxml2
and install it. After that everything went fine.
